This document is a starting template and not legal advice. It must be reviewed and adapted by qualified legal counsel before you rely on it. Every placeholder shown in [brackets] — including the legal entity name, registered address, commercial-register number and the data-protection contact — must be completed with your real details before publication.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and [Legal entity name](“Legible”, “we”, “us”), registered at [registered address], commercial-register no. [CHE-/UID number]. By creating an account or using legibleindex.comand the Legible service (the “Service”), you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
Legible is a Generative Engine Optimization and AI-visibility tool. You submit a public URL; Legible fetches that page, extracts its text, and analyses it — including by sending extracted content to third-party AI models — to produce a readiness score and recommendations describing how well the page is likely to be found and cited by AI assistants. Paid plans add saved scan history, monitoring and alerting. The Service provides informational analysis and suggestions; it does not guarantee any particular ranking, citation, traffic or commercial outcome.
Accounts
To use account features you sign in with a passwordless magic link sent to your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure and for all activity under your account. You must provide an accurate email address, be able to form a binding contract, and not be barred from using the Service under applicable law. Notify us promptly at hello@legibleindex.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scan URLs you do not own or are not authorised to submit and have analysed;
- use the Service to infringe intellectual-property, privacy or other rights, or to submit unlawful, harmful or infringing content;
- attempt to circumvent rate-limits, security controls or usage quotas, or place an unreasonable load on the Service;
- reverse-engineer, scrape, resell or build a competing service from the Service except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law;
- interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure.
We may apply transient IP-based rate-limiting and may suspend or limit access where we reasonably believe these rules have been breached.
Plans, pricing and payment
Legible offers a Free plan and a Pro plan.
- Free — provides core scanning subject to usage limits and feature restrictions that we may adjust over time.
- Pro — billed at CHF 49 per month. Payments are processed by Stripe; by subscribing you also agree to Stripe’s terms. Card data is handled directly by Stripe and is never stored by Legible. Unless stated otherwise, prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which may be added.
The Pro plan renews automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain Pro access until then.
Refunds
Except where required by mandatory law, monthly Pro fees are non-refundable, and cancelling stops future renewals rather than refunding the current period. If you believe you were charged in error, contact hello@legibleindex.com and we will review your case in good faith.
No warranty on scan accuracy
The Service — including all scores, audits, recommendations and AI-generated output — is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. AI models can be incomplete, outdated or wrong, and third-party engines change continuously. We do not warrant that scan results are accurate, complete, current, or that acting on them will produce any specific outcome. You are responsible for independently reviewing any recommendation before you act on it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Legible shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service in any twelve-month period shall not exceed the greater of the amounts you actually paid us for the Service in that period or CHF 50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable mandatory law.
Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding and content (excluding the third-party pages you scan), is owned by Legible or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You retain rights in the URLs and content you submit; you grant us the rights necessary to fetch, process and analyse that content (including via third-party AI providers) in order to deliver the Service. Output generated for you (such as a Fix Pack) may be used for your own purposes.
Third-party services
The Service depends on third parties — including Supabase, Vercel, Stripe, Infomaniak and the AI providers OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Perplexity. Their availability and behaviour are outside our control, and your use of features that rely on them may also be subject to their terms. See our Privacy Policy for how data is shared with these providers.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, intellectual property and governing law) survive termination.
Changes to the Service and to these Terms
We may modify the Service and these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the “Last updated” date and take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the substantive laws of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms is [place / canton], Switzerland, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection venue available to you.
